Backups
Backing up and restoring your site.
Geppetto's backup system creates snapshots of your entire site you can restore at a later time. If you have a paid plan you'll see "Backups" at the bottom of the deploy page (rocket icon). Create a backup with the "Create" button, restore one with the "Restore" button. It takes seconds, not minutes, to make or restore a backup.
Only the 10 most recent are kept
Geppetto keeps the 10 most recent backups per site. Every new backup, whether manual, automatic (before a destructive action), or on publish, pushes out the oldest once you're over ten. Treat backups as a short-term safety net, not long-term version history: don't count on one from last month still being there.

- Backups are created automatically before certain destructive actions. Delete a full folder of pages without a manual backup? Don't worry. An automatic backup was taken just before. Every publish creates a backup checkpoint too.
- Restoring replaces your current site. It doesn't back up your current state first, so take a manual backup before restoring if you might want to come back to it.
- On Team plans, Contributors can't make or restore backups.
- You can create and restore backups with the API.
